Getting ready for Open Churches Week 2017
Around two hundred people enjoyed refreshments and all the trappings of a village fête. There was a variety of stalls such as produce, bric-á-brac, Project Linus* knitwear and quilting, a tombola and a book stall.
The church also offered free refreshments throughout the day and entertainment on a Shakespearian theme.
Christ Church is situated on the central crossroads of the village and offers itself as a centre of village life. The ethos of the church is that everything is offered free at the point of entry.
The £1000 raised will go towards supporting the church but this does not include the money raised by several other stalls supporting various charitable causes.
The Local History Group also prepared an extensive exhibition on the history of Fulmodeston, Barney and Croxton during the lifetime of the Queen which is still available to view all through August from dawn until dusk.
The theme of Open Churches Week is Reflection and local history is being remembered throughout August in a wonderful exhibition covering the 90 years of the Queen's lifetime. There is also a book sale available every day during the month.
