Getting ready for Open Churches Week 2017
Jonathan Richardson who started as the Children, Youth and Families Development Officer at the Diocese in March 2016 says;
“Many churches report that they want to grow their provision for young people but feel it is the area they are least equipped to undertake. We are keen to help churches reach their potential and gain confidence in working with this younger age group. We want to enable workers and volunteers to share best practice and find mutual support – something which can be hard to find when working in the more isolated areas of our Diocese.”
One of the many training opportunities and events is a Youth & Children's Leaders Retreat Day taking place on Saturday 11 February at the Horstead Centre.
The retreat day is an opportunity for youth and children’s leaders/volunteers to reflect on their work, share tips, ideas and practical advice and guidance on good practice that relate to their work.
The day will use materials from The Key - a resource tool launched in 2009 by Diocese of Bristol - which provides invaluable encouragement, support and training to those involved in children’s and youth work in a Christian context.
