Wow! £20,000 raised during pandemic for the Bishop’s Lent Appeal

This year’s Lent Appeal focused on raising enough money to enable the community to buy a car for traveling to neighbouring villages for education and evangelism and also to main towns for training and access to key medical supplies.

Transport previously involved descending from the Dogura plateau to a boat ride across the sea and then waiting for a truck from Awaiama, which made journeys difficult and arduous to undertake.

Your donations have enabled the community to remain on the site of their heritage and continue their good work throughout their diocese as well as reach essential supplies for themselves.

The Rt Revd Graham Usher, the Bishop of Norwich said:

“It’s fantastic, that amidst a global pandemic, people’s generosity has meant that we have been able to reach out in a very practical way to our sisters and brothers in our link diocese of Papua New Guinea. Rachel and I were glad that we were able to play our part too, by opening our garden over three days in June in support of the Lent Appeal. This has all meant that we are able to support them in their mission to share the love of Jesus in Dogura. Thank you.”
