Oliver will take up the post in September when the existing CEO Mary Jane Edwards steps down.

Oliver, previously the Headteacher of Blofield Primary school (an outstanding school), has been part of the successful DNEAT academies improvement team for three years and has been instrumental in helping schools to rapidly improve during that time. Within DNEAT more children are now attending a ‘good’ school, with the proportion of academies rated as ‘good’ or better by Ofsted having increased from 53% to 76% over the past two years.

The Trust has also seen an increase in the percentage of children achieving the expected standard in reading, writing and maths by the end of primary school – since 2016 this has been improving faster than the national average.

The Chair of the DNEAT Board of Trustees, Willie Crawshay said:

‘We are delighted that such a strong candidate has been appointed to this important post. Oliver has a track record of successful school improvement both as a Headteacher and as someone responsible for a group of schools. He is perfectly placed to lead the next phase of DNEAT’s development as it builds on good Ofsted reports and improving academic results for pupils.’

Oliver Burwood said:

‘I’m delighted to take on this key leadership role within DNEAT. I have seen first-hand what a difference to pupils’ wellbeing, personal development and learning being part of a successful, distinctively Christian, Multi-Academy Trust can make. I’m excited to be leading our fantastic academies and staff forwards on our improvement journey.’
