In an effort to reach more people throughout Norfolk and Waveney the Diocese of Norwich has launched a new dial-a-podcast service. The telephone line will enable those who have no internet but do have either a landline or mobile to listen to the pre-recorded podcast from their phone.
With so many people across the Diocese living in rural areas where broadband coverage and mobile signal is less reliable, or who simply feel uncomfortable using the internet, live streaming does not provide the connection to the church family that is so needed as people remain in isolation.
- You can listen and download the latest podcast online here
- You can hear the podcast over the telephone by calling 01603 537577 – calls are charged at a local rate
Speaking about the new service, Diocesan Communications Officer, Joanna Fisher, said:
“The message of the weekly podcast is one of hope and coming together; to be church where we are even while separated in these unusual circumstances. The new dimension to how we distribute the podcast means that these Sunday recordings are accessible to an even wider audience.
It allows more people to hear the podcast and enjoy the moments of calm brought by taking time out of the day to reflect and pray in solidarity with others.“
If you know someone who doesn’t have access to the internet and would like to listen each week, please let them know the new number: 01603 537577 (calls are charged at a local rate).
Other churches including Cromer Parish Church are using a similar service to enable their weekly Sunday service to he heard by many.
