One wedding: no reception!

The happy couple, Pete and Eirini, had some hoops to go through, including getting the Bishop’s licence for their wedding, rather than being married under Banns. Diocesan Registrar, Stuart Jones, ensured this process went through smoothly.

All was planned, including an outdoor Reception at a local rural venue for a maximum of 30 people. Then, on Friday 31 July (the day before their wedding), wedding receptions were banned by the Government, which forced the venue-owner to cancel their Reception.

God’s hand was strangely in all this, as, after two sweltering days at the end of July, Saturday 1 August was warm and sunny with a light breeze. Perfect weather for a picnic in the churchyard to toast the Bride and Groom. Bubbles all-round!
