Following discussion, both locally and nationally, the Diocese of Norwich is leaving X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter.
As of 31 January 2025, the Diocese of Norwich will no longer be active on X. The Bishops of Norwich, Thetford and Lynn are also leaving X by the end of January, as is the Diocesan Secretary.
The Bishop of Norwich, the Rt Revd Graham Usher, wrote on X to explain:
“I’m leaving X on 31/1. Thank you for following. For 11 years I’ve tried to share my faith and ministry here, but I have grown more uncomfortable that X seeks to divide more than to build up, sink people rather than let them fly.”
Tim Sweeting, our Diocesan Secretary writes:
“We value each person who engages with our social media accounts. Our aim is to share our faith and to highlight and celebrate the wonderful mission and ministry of parishes and church communities across Norfolk and Waveney, reaching people who may not be aware of the incredible amount of support provided by churches in this area and the army of volunteers behind it.”
The Diocese of Norwich is still on Instagram and Facebook and now active on BlueSky. Please do continue or start to follow one of these accounts and continue sharing your stories with us.
