Elections and Appointments to Diocesan Boards and Committees

There are a number of ways to support the mission and ministry of the church across our parishes, and one key avenue is by contributing to sound governance. If you feel called to collaborate, foster open communication, and ensure clarity in decision-making, we encourage you to come forward and offer your time and talents in this important work.

Elected places;

  • Vacancy in See – There is one vacancy for a communicant lay person based in the Archdeaconry of Norfolk elected by the House of Clergy and the House of Laity of Diocesan Synod.
  • Vacancy in See – There is one vacancy for a communicant lay person based in the Archdeaconry of Norwich elected by the House of Clergy and the House of Laity of Diocesan Synod.
  • Patronage Board – There is one vacancy for a lay person who is elected by the House of Laity of Diocesan Synod
  • Patronage Board – There is one vacancy for one ordained member (licensed to or beneficed in any parish in the diocese) who is elected by the House of Clergy of Diocesan Synod.

The timetable for the first round of elections is;

  • 8 March 2025 – Deadline for nominations to be received at Diocesan House.
  • 10 March 2025 – Results announced where places are uncontested.
  • By 14 March 2025 – Ballot papers issued for contested places.
  • 28 March 2025 – Deadline for ballot papers to be received at Diocesan House.
  • 31 March 2025 – Results of ballots announced. You can find a full list of Diocesan Synod members here.

Appointed places

  • Bishop’s Council of Trustees: There is one vacancy for a lay person to be appointed by Bishop’s Council of Trustees following the agreement of the Nominations Committee.
  • Asset Management: There is one vacancy for a member with investment experience appointed by the Bishop’s Council of Trustees following the agreement of the Nominations Committee.
  • Finance Committee: There are two vacancies for members appointed by Bishop’s Council of Trustees in consultation with the Nominations Committee.
  • Property Committee: There are two vacancies for either clergy or a lay member appointed by Bishop’s Council of Trustees.
