Mrs Hayley Sonnex, headteacher from Alburgh with Denton Church of England Primary Academy said: “We are part of the Harleston Cluster of schools and we already have a good relationship with St Benet’s Multi Academy Trust having worked closely with Harleston Church of England Primary School and Archbishop Sancroft High School. Back in 2020 our Governors made the decision to join because they could see that small schools such as ours were becoming more isolated and we wanted to ensure the school was sustainable going forward.”

Richard Cranmer, CEO of St Benet’s Multi Academy Trust said: “It is becoming very clear that every school, but particularly small rural schools, gain enormously from close working relationships with colleagues in other schools. This enables a collaborative approach to curriculum design and delivery and ultimately provides the very best learning experiences for the children. We are delighted that Alburgh with Denton have, through St Benet’s, been united with the other schools in the Trust.”

The school, which has a ‘Good’ Ofsted report from January 2019, has had full support from parents and staff.
