Once breakfast and morning prayer was over at Banningham Crown Bishop Jonathan moved to North Walsham where he entertained the crowds at the Thursday market.
Markets are unusual places – stall holders produce a variety of goods that one may or may not find in the local shops. North Walsham market on a Thursday morning is no exception. I encountered a gentleman in a dazzling looking outfit who I suspect must have been the town crier. However, a Bishop busking was not something most of the shoppers and the market traders had bargained for.
Two songs later after blessing the market he visited some of the stalls and chatted to stallholders and shoppers alike.
Shortly afterwards he went to Ludham Bridge where he boarded a boat belonging to the Nancy Oldfield Trust, which promotes and provides opportunities to sail for disabled and disadvantaged people.
The “Nancy Bee 2” along with a visiting group made their way by water to the ruins of St Benet’s Abbey where the Bishop conducted a short service and welcomed visitors to the site.
