The total amount raised for the Bishop’s Lent Appeal is £11,667.99.

Bishop Graham said;

“Thank you to everyone who contributed so generously to the Bishop’s Lent Appeal in aid of the Sag Sag Health Centre in Papua New Guinea. It was a joy to meet with three PNG bishops at the Lambeth Conference and to hear about the positive impact of previous Lent Appeals on the lives of local people and the mission of the Anglican Church. The work of the Sag Sag Health Centre is vital in its community and our donations continues a long tradition of supporting our sisters and brothers in Christ to have life in all its fulness.”

Sag Sag is a very remote community in Papua New Guinea. The health centre provides essential help and the beds will be used by the most vulnerable targeted groups including children under one and mother-t0-be attending ante natal clinics.

Mothers and children lie on their own blankets on the bare floorboards when they arrive for treatment. Sometimes, they will have canoed along the coast for a day to arrive at Sag Sag.

Through our Papua New Guinea (PNG) Link Group, the Diocese of Norwich is in regular contact with all five Papua New Guinea dioceses and the Lent Appeal money will get help directly to the people in Sag Sag.

In recent years, your support of the Lent Appeal has helped to raise money to provide a 4×4 vehicle for the remote community of Alotau in Dogura Diocese; learning resources for ordinands in Popondetta Diocese; a new church building at Simbai in Aipo-Rongo Diocese; classrooms at a school in a settlement in Port Moresby Diocese and resources to empower women across the province.

Thank you.
