Revd Andrew Whitehead explained to the class that he wanted them to focus on spotting and identifying as many different species of nature as they could.

The churchyard has areas of long grass to encourage nature to grow and make the space a habitat home.

Deanne Dafforn, Beech Class teacher said: “Year 5 thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon, working well in groups to make close observations, explore and identify the various species of plants, trees, insects and birds. They really showed off their good knowledge of nature and the lists we have collated are impressive!”

Now the class are working on detailed drawings of what they have spotted using sketches they made and photos taken.
