Organisers Celebrate Norfolk (an ecumenical charity supported by city center Anglican churches) have arranged for Saltmine Theatre Company and local community actors to perform the Passion Play at various Norwich city centre venues including Hay Hill, Millennium Plain and in St Peter Mancroft Church.
Now they need the support of local churches to provide some community actors and stewards for the event and to pledge to promote the free event to their congregations and ask them to come along with a friend or two to watch the performances on Saturday 16 April at 11am and 3pm.
Keith Morris, part of the Celebrate Norfolk team behind the event, said: “Please put the date in your church diary for Easter and ask your congregation to come along and bring a friend or two with them – we believe it is a great opportunity for people to hear and experience the gospel message at this free event. We need community cast members and lots of stewards to be able to stage the event, so if you can help please get in contact. We would also value your prayers from now until Easter.”
Team member, Heather Land, said: “We are excited about the many opportunities for follow-up and good conversations the Norwich Passion Play will bring. It could be an ideal way to bring a small group together to discuss faith, their reaction to the story of the Passion etc. Some churches may choose to bring a group who have just completed an Alpha course whilst others may encourage their members to extend individual invitations to friends to come and experience it. Also, if you would like your church contact details to be added to our website for anyone who sees the performance and wants to find out more about the Christian faith or a local church afterwards, please let us know. “
You can find out more about the play by watching a two-minute video which you can find on YouTube to play at your church services or life groups or be circulated to your members.
If you would like to join the team for this one-off event, please email the team with your contacts details, which role you are interested in, and, briefly, any relevant experience you have.
