A special celebration service took place at Norwich Cathedral on Sunday 22 September to say thank you to people working and volunteering with children, young people, families and schools across the Diocese of Norwich.
During the service, the Bishop of Norwich, the Rt Revd Graham Usher commissioned workers and volunteers ahead of a new academic year.
Forty children from a choir at Dickleburgh Church of England Primary Academy School in Diss were invited to the service to sing. They enjoyed a talk with Bishop Graham at the start who asked them about the Cathedral, “what have you spotted?” “what do you think looks amazing in here?”
Answers included “the organ’s twinkly star” and “everything in here looks amazing!”
The hymns included: ‘We are marching in the light of God’ ‘Blessed be your name’ ‘The Lord’s my shepherd’ and ‘Guide me, O thou great Redeemer’.
There were prayers of intercession for governors, teachers and school staff and those working with children, young people and families.
The children’s choir sang “We are Unstoppable” before the Bishop of Thetford, the Rt Revd Ian Bishop led the address.
