Churches Count on Nature and Great Big Green Week will be celebrated at All Saints Church, Hemblington between 8th – 16th June. There will be an exhibition in church from Tuesday 11th June highlighting the flora and fauna identified in and around the churchyard. It will also show how the church team is working towards the A Rocha eco-church awards, concentrating on re-use/recycling and use of sustainable materials, composting and community engagement. Norfolk Wildlife Trust has organised a walk and discussion about wildflower conservation in churchyards on Wednesday 12th June – see separate entry on the Diocesan website or book via the NWT website. The local Blofield & District Conservation Group BADCOG will be cutting the churchyard towards the end of the week, to ensure the large variety of wildflowers will be abundant next year. Do come along and enjoy the beauty of the wildflower-filled churchyards, the interesting architectural features of the church itself (round tower, huge unique wall painting of the life of St Christopher, well conserved octagonal font, rood stairs – plus there is a level access WC) and support our efforts to keep the church building and surrounding areas in a good condition for future generations. Self-serve refreshments are always available. Do visit us any time!
