Innovative alternative to traditional holiday club!

COVID-19 has meant that the Holiday Club normally offered by the two churches of St Andrew’s and Christ Church, Eaton, cannot take place. Instead, children are being offered activity packs full of fun things to do during each week in August.

The packs were prepared at the end of July and have been distributed to children in Eaton and surrounding areas – widespread publicity about the packs resulted in an overwhelming response, with double the original quantity requested, and still the requests kept coming!

There is a Christian theme to all the packs, which are designed for children aged between 5-11. Each week has its own theme:  “We are wonderfully made”, “We are all part of God’s family”, “Hope” and “Love”, and each pack is based on those themes. The team were overjoyed with the wonderful response and hope that this will be the start of an innovative approach it can follow up in the months ahead, reaching out to children with a message of hope during unprecedented times.

Vivien Humber, of Christ Church, says:

“The team are delighted that so many people have asked for packs. We have already received great feedback and it has allowed the churches to make contact with more families in the local area.”
