On Saturday 27 April the Children, Youth and Families Team hosted their ‘One Big Day’ conference for anyone involved in ministry with children, young people and families.
Through a programme of keynotes and seminars on thought provoking topics, the conference encouraged delegates to consider ‘Just one thing’ – small and manageable ideas which could help their church start, enhance or grow their mission and ministry with young people and offer fruitful faith links between church, school and households.
Eight seminars ran throughout the day on topics including intergenerational working, creating safe spaces, youth work, chaplaincy in schools, mission planning, church welcome, children’s work and team development.
Speaking about the day Jonathan Richardson, Children, Youth and Families Development Officer said: “We know that time is at a premium for many people working with children and young people, so we’re delighted with how successful today has been. We all need a little encouragement sometimes to step out of our comfort zone and move by faith and hope into something new. We pray that this day has been a catalyst for the new. We hope we’ve been able to really inspire and equip people practically to be able to go home and successfully implement something they learnt today that will help them expand their ministry.”
There was also a marketplace of stands with information about other projects and resources as well as local and national organisations stands, including Care for the Family, Open the Book, Youth For Christ, Counties UK, Raise Kids Work, Godly Play. As well as a resource and bookstall provided by Green Pastures, Dereham.
