On Sunday 17 January, a 24 hour vigil took place in response to the the increasing need and overwhelm within our health and care sectors. Many Christians responded to this urgent need for prayer via zoom creating a community of prayer.
Speaking about the original prayer vigil, the Revd Helen Garrard said: “It was a powerful experience which not only bore witness to the very present need at this time but also enabled people to respond in the fellowship of others. Each hour was marked by a psalm and prayer and the time in between filled with silent and sometimes spoken words of devotion. The vaccination gives us much to be thankful for and is a welcome sign of hope at this time but many continue to suffer and struggle. It is important to continue to pray.”
Bishop Graham offers his full support of the prayer vigil initiative. He says: “At this time of crisis and suffering, both for patients and healthcare workers, we hold them in our prayers.”
