Rooted – pilgrimage and prayer

The Children, Youth and Families Team recently joined up with the Revd James Shelton to run a pilgrim day for young people. ‘Rooted’ was planned as a reflective walk of pilgrimage, spending time thinking about what it means to be rooted in our faith.

The day started from the Via Beata way station at All Hallows Convent, Ditchingham where they were introduced to some of the ways of pilgrimage. Throughout the day there were times of walking and times of reflecting. These focused on ideas of journeying, of being led, of pausing, listening, resting and silence as we thought about Jesus’ example and how we might find space for these disciplines in our busy lives.

Lunch was held in the sunshine outside Hedenham Church (where the group were very thankful of the sunshine as the day before had been extremely wet). Jonathan Richardson, Children, Youth and Families Development Officer for the Diocese of said: “It was such an encouragement to spend the day talking with young people about their faith journeys. We would highly recommend that people investigate the Earsham Benefice ‘Pilgrims’ ministry.”
