St Ethelbert’s Church in the Norfolk village of Larling has won the top prize for conservation at the National Church Awards.
The annual competition, run by the National Churches Trust, selected St Ethelbert’s as the Care & Conservation category winner in recognition of its outstanding work to maintain and preserve its historic rural church building.
Following the announcement, Revd Br Simon Richardson, Priest-in-Charge at St Ethelbert’s, said:
“It was a real surprise and delight that St Ethelbert’s, Larling, won the Church Conservation Award for England at the National Church Awards. So much is being done in so many beautiful Churches around the country, that it is a source of genuine pride that the efforts of our Churchwardens and PCC to conserve, promote and support the Church and Parish have been recognised in this way.
“The celebrations have already begun – and the winning of this award will only strengthen our resolve to maintain the beauty of the place, and the worship of God Almighty in this little corner of Norfolk.”
Winners in each category of the awards were revealed at a ceremony held at Lincoln Cathedral.
