Join Brother Jean-Marie of Taizé, and the Bishop of Norwich, for a prayerful, musical, reflective evening at St Luke’s Church, Aylsham Road, Norwich.
The world-renowned Taizé style of contemplative worship was developed in the ecumenical monastic community in France, where it is shared with more than 100,000 young pilgrims every year
On April 4, Brother Jean-Marie, who has helped lead worship at Taizé for many years, will be in Norwich for an evening beginning with song practice from 6pm, followed by silence at 6.20pm and worship from 6.30pm.
Brother Jean-Marie, who grew up in New York, has helped lead worship at Taizé for many years. He has described Taizé-style worship as meditative and God-centred, structured around scripture. Song and silence are both key parts of the tradition.
The Taizé community was founded near Cluny in 1940 and is home to around 100 monks from many catholic and protestant traditions.
This summer the Bishop of Norwich will lead a pilgrimage to Taize for people aged 18 to 35 from the diocese. To book a place or find out more contact Jeremy Brown at taize.pilgrimage@dioceseofnorwich.org
