Posted on: Thursday 26 September 2024 | Diocese of Norwich

Ashill Benefice

The four rural parishes of Ashill, Saham Toney, Ovington and Merton are set in the heart of the Breckland area of south-west Norfolk, with good access to the A11/M11 and the market towns of Watton and Swaffham.

We are looking for a priest confident in their love of God who can lead and encourage the church through deepening discipleship and develop its mission to the communities it serves.

There is good lay leadership within the churches and we work well together. We seek a priest who will be supportive, celebrating the individuality of our four churches, our different services and styles, and who will journey with us as we grow in faith.

Our churches are praying for a priest who will:

  • deepen our discipleship and enable spiritual growth
  • encourage those who do not believe in God to consider doing so
  • help us build on our relationships with our 2 village primary schools and reach out in new ways to young families and young people
  • work with lay leaders, supporting and enabling their ministry
  • maintain and develop a variety of services, celebrating the individuality of the churches

Key characteristics of post holder:

  • an ordained priest in the Church of England, or a Church in communion with the Church of England with a desire to see lives transformed by Christ
  • personally rooted and confident in their love of God and God’s love for others
  • a team player with a collaborative approach to ministry
  • friendly, visible and approachable with good people skills
  • able to provide sensitive pastoral care

We offer supportive congregations, a dedicated and hard-working ministry team and experienced and committed Churchwardens and PCCs. The Rectory is a comfortable and spacious home with 4 bedrooms in the village of Ashill.

More information can be found in the profile and Diocesan Notes.

Closing date: 9:00 am Monday 21st October 2024
